Powerocks Keeping Military Families Connected During the Holidays

“Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect.”- Chief Seattle

Keeping Connected

When one thinks of the holidays, they often think of spending time with their family and loved ones. Over time and circumstance, many people find themselves separated from their loved ones during the holiday season.  The benefit of living in such a digital age with Google Hangouts, Skype calls, and Facetime, is that our loved ones can be seen and heard, an often priceless gift across the miles for those who can’t be together.  Keeping connected is something we need.

Supporting Wounded Warriors

On hearing that the men and women of the veteran-managed nonprofit Operation Enduring Warrior were collecting items for stockings bound for Walter Reed National Military Medical Hospital, we wanted to get involved, show our appreciation for these wounded warrior heroes, and provide the small comfort and convenience of mobile charging power through our Powerocks Magicsticks portable chargers.

Staff members of Powerocks USA have had the good fortune of working with Operation Enduring Warrior over the past two years and seen their reach and passion to help their fellow military brothers and sisters. Operation Enduring Warrior (OEW) is a team of active and retired military known for participating in endurance challenges while donning gas masks. The team includes members from a variety of armed forces backgrounds as well as wounded warrior amputees. With a mission to honor, empower and motivate America’s wounded military service members, its holiday stocking stuffer project is one of many ways the team gives back to the warrior community.

“This brings home even more strongly that the holiday is about remembering, honoring, and giving back to those who do so much for us and for this country,” said Dan Covolesky, director of operations at Operation Enduring Warrior.

Stocking Stuffers for the Holiday

The stockings being donated will include a Team Operation Enduring Warrior shirt, a specialized survival strap, candy, other holiday treats and personalized Christmas cards from local school children.

“This is just a small token of our appreciation for the huge sacrifices these valiant men and women have made on our behalf,” noted John Lund, President of Powerocks USA. “It’s the least we can do. I hope the gifts show how grateful we are for their service to our country and help brighten their holidays.”

Powerocks portable chargers are a line of convenient portable chargers distributed for a variety of mobile devices, such as smartphones, MP3 players, tablets, GPS units, cameras and e-readers. They are compact and powerful for on-the-go recharging of mobile devices. Magicsticks come in a variety of stylish colors, including the red, silver, and blue units going to Walter Reed.
